Childhood and Teenage Years
Lily Collins was born to legendary British musician Phil Collins and American Jill Tavelman. She spent her early years in Surrey, England. When Lily was five, her parents divorced. Her mother won a £17 million settlement and moved to Los Angeles with her daughter, taking over the Beverly Hills Women's Club.

Actress and Model
In 2007, representatives of the fashion brand Chanel invited Lily to participate in the Paris Debutante Ball. The show took place at one of Paris' most luxurious hotels and was broadcast worldwide.

In 2020, Lily Collins appeared in David Fincher's old Hollywood film "Mank." She played Rita Alexander, the loyal secretary and confidante to screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz. Meanwhile, she was wrapping up work on the series "Emily in Paris," where her character couldn't be more different from Rita:
The series follows a Chicago marketing specialist who lands a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that takes her to Paris. There, this Midwestern transplant has to embrace the city and all its French clichés. For Collins, who usually gravitates toward darker dramatic projects, "Emily in Paris" was a refreshing change of pace:Emily is a bright, straightforward character, and her world reflects that same energy. Rita, on the other hand, lives in a black-and-white world. She's more reserved, serious, balanced—and she's British.
Her performance as Emily earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical. When I first read the script, I would've fought just to get an audition. From it being a Darren Star series to being the first American show fully shot in Paris—plus I'd always wanted to do a romantic comedy. I usually gravitate toward darker, more emotional themes that are hard to talk about. I was craving something lighter.

Sometimes I'd even forget it was him. I thought working with Charlie would be stressful, but honestly, it was amazing and liberating. It was great, and I am very, very proud of the film and proud of my husband.
